We’re kicking off the weekend in Western Chic! Break out your boots, denim, and western-inspired style, dressed up just enough for a fun night of celebrating. Ladies might pair a flowy dress or skirt with boots or a touch of fringe, while gents can go with jeans or slacks, a sharp shirt or jacket, and boots. Cowboy hats and bolo ties are always welcome! Enjoy cocktails and light bites as we celebrate the start of this special weekend together.

We’ve reserved a room block for our wedding weekend. To secure your stay, please make your reservation directly with the Ranch. Given limited block availability, we recommend booking as soon as possible. Since all wedding festivities will take place at the Ranch, we highly encourage guests to stay on-site and fully enjoy the weekend’s events and all DTR has to offer!&nbsp; Room Block Options &amp; Rates (per night):• High Lonesome Lodge Room (King or Double Queen): $500• High Lonesome Lofted Suite (King + Lofted Queen): $709 Additional Lodging:Rooms outside of the block or on nights not included in the block are subject to availability and standard rates. For our guests flying into DIA, the Ranch is about a two-hour drive from the airport. In the busy summer season or if there are delays on I-70, the trip may take up to three hours, so we recommend planning for additional travel time. For a more relaxed start to the weekend, consider arriving in Colorado a bit early—perhaps spending a night in Denver or exploring a mountain town along the way. This way, you’ll have plenty of time to settle in before Friday’s welcome festivities.

Driving to the Ranch

For those driving, we recommend traveling during daylight hours, when the roads are easier to navigate and wildlife is less active. Complimentary parking is available on-site at the Ranch. Directions: From Denver, take I-70 West. Exit at US‑40 (Exit 232) toward Empire / Granby. Stay on US‑40 through Empire, over Berthoud Pass, past Winter Park and Fraser. About 2 miles past Fraser, turn right onto County Road 83, then take the right‑hand fork and follow it about 3 miles to the Ranch.

Transportation Options

Car Rentals

Denver International Airport (DIA) offers a wide selection of major car rental companies. While the rental counters aren’t located directly in the terminal, a free shuttle runs frequently between the airport and the Rental Car Center, making it quick and easy to pick up your car and begin your mountain adventure.

Private Driver

If you prefer not to rent a car, several private transportation companies offer service from DIA to Devil’s Thumb Ranch.

Scenic Train

For a truly scenic journey, consider the Amtrak Winter Park Express, which travels from Denver Union Station (DEN) to Fraser-Winter Park (WIP) in roughly two hours. WIP is just 10 minutes from Devil’s Thumb Ranch. For our wedding weekend, there is one route per day, currently departing DEN at 8:45 AM and returning from WIP at 3:30 PM. We recommend checking train schedules before booking flights or making other travel arrangements. If you choose this option, please let the bride or groom know so we can arrange transportation from the train station to the Ranch.

Winter Park

The mountains are calling! Thrill-seekers can race down Colorado’s longest alpine slide, hikers can explore beautiful trails, and mountain bikers will find runs for every skill level. If you want something more chill, try horseback riding or fishing in the Rockies’ rivers and lakes. When it’s time to relax, stroll through Winter Park’s cute shops, grab a bite at cozy cafés or fun restaurants, and check out local events like the Farmers Market for fresh produce and local goodies.

Other Nearby Activities

Guests can enjoy a variety of activities that showcase the beauty of the Rockies! Take a scenic drive through Rocky Mountain National Park for incredible mountain views and the chance to spot wildlife. Spend the day rafting, paddleboarding, or fishing on nearby lakes and rivers, or play a round at one of the area’s mountain golf courses. For a bit of adventure, consider a hot air balloon ride over the Fraser Valley or ziplining. Nearby, the charming towns of Winter Park, Granby, and Grand Lake offer local shops, art galleries, and dining options to explore at your own pace.

Can I bring a date?

If your invite is addressed to "and guest" then yes you may, otherwise no. Our wedding is strictly RSVP only. We will only be able to accommodate those listed on your invitation.

Can children attend?

While we adore your children, outside of immediate family, this will be an adults-only wedding.&nbsp;

Is there a dress code?

For the Welcome Party on Friday, August 14th, we request that you join us in Western Chic! Layering is encouraged, as summer nights in the mountains can get cool.

When should I arrive?

We recommend arriving before Friday evening so you can settle in and enjoy the stunning Rocky Mountain views before the festivities begin! The Welcome Party kicks off on Friday evening featuring cocktails and light bites to start the weekend celebration.

Where Should I Stay?

Since all wedding festivities will take place at Devil's Thumb Ranch, we highly recommend staying on-site to make the most of the weekend! For those who prefer off-site accommodations, there are several nearby hotels in Winter Park, Fraser, and Grandby, as well as VRBO and Airbnb rentals. Complimentary parking will be available at Devil’s Thumb Ranch for guests not staying on-site.

WILL THE CEREMONY / RECEPTION BE INDOORS OR OUTDOORS?

The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors (weather permitting), with the reception indoors.

What should I know about the mountain air and altitude?

Devil’s Thumb Ranch sits at 8,500 feet, so the air is thinner and drier than you might be used to. This can dehydrate you faster than usual, even if you don’t feel thirsty! Be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the weekend, bring a refillable water bottle, and consider packing hydration packets. Sunscreen is also important as the mountain sun is stronger at higher elevations.
